Mark Tilbrook

Business Director

Mark Tilbrook is a Co-Founder and Business Director of Everyday Ability. He brings 5 years’ experience in disability services to Everyday Ability having previously worked as a disability support worker and business manager at another provider. He also has an extensive background in finance, IT, project management, telecommunications, logistics and media. Mark’s experience has helped him to ensure that Everyday Ability is well placed to manage the ever-changing needs of the industry and the NDIA.

Mark established Everyday Ability with the other Co-Founders to make a change in the industry, having worked with another provider where he witnessed many opportunities that were being missed. He wanted Everyday Ability to become the employer of choice and provide a service where the participant is at the centre of everything the company does. Mark’s business experience has allowed Everyday Ability to create a streamlined service that is easy to access and provides supports without the extensive paperwork in his role as Business Director.

Mark’s most memorable moment since starting Everyday Ability was at the time they were opening their first SIL house which was in desperate need of a paint job. Mark had no experience in home renovation but was very quickly put to work scraping the old peeling paint off the ceiling in the bathroom - and spent just as long complaining about it! The other directors took great delight in seeing Mark up on top of a ladder getting his hands dirty. Today when Mark reminds his Co-Founders that he was the one to paint that house they are very quick to remind him of what really happened, including his complaints!

When asked what he loves most about his work at Everyday Ability, Mark says, “I love seeing the changes in participants over time. Watching someone who is shy and reserved come out of their shell and gain the confidence to be their own person and interact with society is incredibly rewarding. Those little moments of a smile or laugh make it all worthwhile.”

In his spare time, Mark loves collecting LEGO and vinyl records, as well as spending time with his six nieces and nephews and spoiling them at every chance he gets.
